Dr. Uma Tyagi, Librarian

     Dr. Uma Tyagi joined as a Librarian in VPCI Library on July 25, 2001. She has obtained her Bachelors in Science from Meerut College, U.P. Subsequently, she obtained her M.Sc. and Masters in Philosophy (Nuclear Physics) from C. C. S. University, Meerut. She enrolled and attained her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from Department of Library and Information Science (DLIS), University of Delhi. She also cleared her U.G.C NET fellowship in her very first attempt. Dr. Uma Tyagi obtained her Doctorate Degree in Library and Information Science from Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi.

Prior to her present post, She  has worked at National Informatics Centre (NIC), Ministry of IT,  Her professional / academic experience spans over nearly 25 years working in Central Government departments and Autonomous organizations. Initial experience was at DELNET and then at National Informatics Centre,  and later in Vallabhbhai Patel Chest Institute, University of Delhi wherein she is presently working as Librarian to till date. She has published a book and numerous articlesboth pertaining to her research as well as professional experience in various facets of Library and Information Science. These articles/ research papers have been published in various reputed National and International journals. The specific areas of interest pertains to ICT application in Libraries, ICT based library functions and services, ICT competencies for LIS professionals etc.

Dr. Uma Tyagi is actively associated with various professional bodies such as Indian Library Association (ILA), Delhi Library Association (DLA), Society for Library Professionals (SLP), Developing Library Network (DELNET), Society for the Advancement of Library and Information Science (SALIS), Ranganathan Research Circle, KalamPrernaManchetc.
